NT Service Module 8.X - Please read this entire file carefully
The NT service module 8.X can only be used with program versions
8.0 or later. The NT service module launches the Engine if it
is shut down. If the engine is started by the 8.X NT service module,
it will not shutdown when the user logs off. This module will
also launches the engine on startup, if the Service Startup Type is
set to Automatic (default).

Recommended settings in Service Control Manager
Version 5.x/6.x NT service module
users
Version 5.x/6.x and 8.X NT service modules cannot be
run simultaneously. If you want to use version 8.X NT service
module (and uninstall 5.x/6.x NT service module), please do the
following:
1. From the Service Control Manager, Stop the
5.x/6.x NT service.
2. From the 5.x/6.x NT service module
front panel - Service menu - Click [Remove Service].
3. From
the Control Panel / Add Remove Programs - uninstall 5.x/6.x NT
service module.
4. From the user interface, NT service menu,
click on the 'Unregister 6.x Service Control' menuitem. This
will unregister the 5.x/6.x activex control.
Version 7.x NT service module users
Version 7.x and 8.X
NT service modules CAN be run simultaneously. However, If you
want to use version 8.X NT service module and uninstall 7.x NT
service module, please do the following:
1. From the Service
Control Manager, Stop the 7.x NT service.
2. From the 7.x NT
service module front panel - Service menu - Click [Remove
Service].
3. From the Control Panel / Add Remove Programs -
uninstall 7.x NT service module.
Getting Started
1. From
the user interface, NT service menu, click on the 'Register 8.X
Service Control' menuitem. This will register the 8.X ActiveX
control on your system.
2. Click on the 'NT Service Module'
menuitem. The HitekService8 window will open.
3. Click on
the 'Install Service' button. This will add the NT service to
the Service Control Manager.
4. The NT Service
Module window does not need to be kept open. You will only use
the module to change settings, or to remove the service.
5. Go to
the Windows Service Control Manager, via the Control Panel.
6.
Set the logon properties for the NT Service, as shown in the
Recommended Settings table below.
7. Start the NT
Service.
Notes:
1. The port value in the NT service
module is read from a settings file, and should match the port value
in the user interface.
For Version 8.X, the
default engine ports are: Automize = 1972, AbleFtp = 1973, JaSFtp =
1974, AutoKrypt = 1975, JaBack = 1976.
2. The Period is the time interval in minutes, which the
NT service module, will check that the engine is running. The
default is 5 minutes. If the engine is shutdown, the NT service
module will restart it.
3. If you change the
Period value in the NT Service module, the Service needs to be
restarted from the Service Control Manager.
4. When the NT
service is stopped in the Service Control Manager, it will request
the engine to shutdown.

These commands are useful for developers who need to remote install this software automatically via scripts / batch files. The commands allows you to register the Service control, install or remove the service. All commands should be sent from the main Automize8 (or AbleFtp8 or JaSFtp8 or AutoKrypt8 ) folder.
The NT service module uses 3 files located in the main
folder:
HitekService8.exe, SvcIt.ocx, and regsvr32.exe.
