| Title | Installation fails if computer is not connected to internet. |
| Date Updated | 5/14/03 |
| Versions affected | Automize 4.1-4.31 & Automize NT service module all versions. |
| OS affected | Windows |
| Description | The user obtains the executable install on disk and attempts to install Automize on a system which is not connected to the Internet. The install fails. |
| Causes | The InstallShield .exe executable uses Microsoft's Windows 2000 installation system, which generally comes inbuilt on systems released in 99 or later. If this win2000 module does not exist on your system, it is downloaded automatically from the internet, but this is creates problems for systems not connected to the internet. |
| Solution | 1) Use our .zip install. This does not require the 2000 installation system. However, there are no shortcuts on the desktop or from Start Button, and no uninstall feature. You simply delete the entire Automize folder to uninstall. 2) Download the Win2000 installation system module separately and install it. The download is from InstallShield: For NT systems, the URL is: http://www.Installengine.com/Msiengine/instmsiw.exe For 95/98 systems, the URL is: http://www.Installengine.com/Msiengine/instmsia.exe |
