| Title | Failed to start Scheduler Engine |
| Date Updated | 9/4/2001 |
| Versions affected | Automize 4.0+, JavaScheduler 2.9+ |
| OS affected | Mostly older operating systems (win95 or winnt) |
| Description | The status bar indicates that the scheduler engine has failed to start. The Scheduler Button on front panel remains RED. Restarting the Admin interface does not solve the problem either. |
| Causes | 1. Firewall does
not permit Automize/JavaScheduelr to act as server. 2. The scheduler engine may actually be started in the background but is not communicating with the Admininstartor interface. 3. Your system does not have the necessary windows support files for Winsock2 or OLE2.4 etc.. Most target systems have these files, so we do not include these files to make our installer smaller. |
| Solution | 1. Configure your firewall to allow
Automize/JS to act as local servers. 2. Shut down and restart Automize/JS. 3. Upgrade to latest service pack (SP) available for your system. Service Packs can be obtained for free from the Microsoft web site. For WinNT, SP6 is the latest. We have tested Automize on WinNT + SP6. For Win95, we have tested on the 1997 release. Win 98/ME/2000 do not have this issue. |
