When emailing a notification that a new file was found in a folder, I would like the email notification to contain the first 7 characters of the original file name. I'd liken it to using a function like LEFT(VARIABLE,7) to get the end result. Can I accomplish this using Automize or would I need to script this outside of the program?

Thanks for evaluating Automize. 

Automize does not have this capability. You would probably have to process this outside Automize, and could pass the variable in to automize via the commandline. See the help file on variables / user defined variables to set/add variables from the commandline.
