Can you tell me what settings I would need to use to be able to check for emails in a Hotmail or Yahoo using the Check Email task?

hotmail use html mail protocol. i.e. you cannot check for emails in this accounts using the check email task.

yahoo uses pop. try
server = pop.mail.yahoo.com
port = 110

We do not currently support ssl for smtp email check task.
We plan to do so in one of the next few patch updates.
