User support request:
I got this error message in a task log file saying "No Output detected in System.out or system.err". Would you please explain what does this exactly mean? Why the task wouldn't run. By the way, the task is a command task running DTS job. Thanks! |

This is generally not necessarily an error. Many batch files etc will run correctly but never output anything to system.out or system.err. Is your batch file supposed to write anything to system.out?

user reply:
I don’t think the job itself will output anything to those two files. The job runs fine on our old machine, but I got this task log on the new machine. The SQL DTS package never even got started. Any idea?
Thanks for your help! |

most common cause could be incorrect working directory if Task never even gets started. |
