User question:

Unzipping a zip archive results in the permissions of the archive not being maintained.

Example:
archive = c:\test\test.zip
windows XP security settings:
user = john , permissions = full access
(no permissions for everyone)

After unzipping test.zip to c:\unzip folder, the extracted files and folders of test.zip have the following permissions:
user = everyone , permissions = full access

how do I make the software maintain the permissions of the extracted files and folders in c:\unzip?

Same goes for copying files from c:\test to c:\backup etc..

The permissions are controlled by the operating system and not Automize / JaSFtp etc..

1) You should set the desired permission of the root folder.
i.e. for c:\unzip , set the permissions as:
user = john, permissions = full access
(no permissions for everyone)

Note that you should have the required permissions to set/change the permission of the folder. If you are the owner/creator of the folder on the network, you generally should have the required permissions.

2) If it exists, make sure to select the option to inherit permissions from parent. This option exists on Windows XP pro.

3) When new files and folders are copied or extracted to the c:\unzip folder or its subfolders, they will automatically maintain the permissions of the root folder.

4) This security policy is maintained by the operating system. Automize / JaSftp etc. do not modify or change this security policy when copying or extracting files.
