We receive pgp encrypted files from a vendor that we need to decrypt. I sent them our public key that I generated from AutoKrypt. However, I getting errors when I try to decrypt the files. There are two files, with two different errors. The errors for the first file are: "gpg: fatal: zlib inflate problem: oversubscribed literal/length tree" and "secmem usage: 2304/3584 bytes in 6/10 blocks of pool 3680/32768". The error on the second file is: "gpg: (don't know): indeterminate length for invalid packet type 15".

When I tested encrypting a file with our public key, and sending it to our DMZ server running AutoKrypt, I could decrypt it with no problem. So, I assumed I'd be able to do the same thing when we got a file from our vendor.

Do you know which product are they using to encrypt? please provide their product name and version number.

They are using PGP Command Line.

However, you can close this case. I thought there might've been a problem with the file they were sending, as I tested AutoKrypt thoroughly and had no problems. So, I sent them a plain text file, asked them to encrypt it and send it back to me. They did, and I was able to decrypt it just fine. So, I asked them to please re-send the data file from yesterday. I just received another file from them and it decrypted without error.

Any idea what they could've done to the files to cause the errors we were experiencing??? They wouldn't tell me what they did...just that they got it fixed.

We looked up this error on the GPG mailing list archive and did not find too much. In one article, the user tried some zlib compression method along with the PGP commandline encryption which resulted in this error. Not sure if this applies to your clients.
