Version 11 Command task issue

Postby Tech Support » Tue May 17, 2016 8:24 am

User support request:
In older versions we used the command task to hit a webpage. The webpage did a bunch of stuff and then closed itself. The task then knew the job had finished successfully and gave us an exit code of 0. When we attempt this in version 11, we are getting an exit code of 1 telling us that the task as failed. Is there any way to tell automize that the webpage completed successfully?

This is what runs in the command line C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe http://ourwebpage

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

1) Did the webpage task finish successfully, but Automize thinks it failed?

2) The new java8 version that Automize11 uses has stopped supporting some commandline functions. Hence we had to rewrite this functionality within the task. Consequently, it is possible that this is the cause of the issue.

3) Also, if the commandline includes spaces within the path, you now have to explicitly enclose it in quotes for our functions to understand.. i.e. use:
“C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” http://ourwebpage

4) If above does not resolve the issue, send us the support.zip for this task as shown below:
Please use the Email Support Generator.
* This feature helps us recreate your settings on our test systems.
* Use the help Menu (Front panel of the Software user interface)
* Click on Email Support Generator menu
* Task to Analyze field - select your task title(s) using the button next to field.
* You can select multiple tasks using the CTRL button. If there is no task created, enter None.
* Message body - explain your issue. Indicate the task run time or task instance.
* Click on the 'Create ZIP' button.
* Email us the support.zip file created.

User response:
Yes, the task did finish successfully, but Automize thought it failed.

Putting in the quotes worked, thank you!
