gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found

Postby melvin » Sat Dec 14, 2013 9:15 am

User support request:
Just downloaded trial version of AutoKrypt10 and trying to review if it is suitable for our environment, seems to be the software we are looking for but I came across this error when trying to load public key (*.asc):
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0

This error occurs when:
1) gpg thinks that the key file does not contain a pgp key.
or
2) gpg sometimes throws this error when the file has more than 1 key in it. You can then copy and paste the desired key to another file x.asc and try importing x.asc.
or
3) the file is on a network folder where the user account than started AutoKrypt does not have permission to read the file. In this case copy the file to a local folder and make sure the user account has permissions to read this file.
