Cannot encrypt with RSA public key

Postby Tech Support » Sun Jan 07, 2007 7:09 am

user support request:

I'm continuing to experience problems with the client's RSA public key when trying to encrypt a file. Your suggestion below did allow the key to be imported; its Trust is marked as "unknown" in the GUI interface, but I have used the command line to set the trust to ultimate (and in fact the command line interface reflects it as ultimate despite what the GUI shows me).

I have created a simple Encryption task using this key. The log appears to see the file (it's filtered OK) but fails to encrypt it, stating it's an unusable public key (the key and the log file are attached)

Any further suggestions? The same key does appear to work with the Veridis product and McAfee so I feel pretty sure the root issue is not with the key but perhaps in how it is set up in autoKrypt?

We could import the key, change the trust and the trust remained as trusted in the Autokrypt user interface.

However, it is a RSA key which cannot be used for PGP encryption. the RSA private key is only suitable for signing and the corresponding RSA public key is only suitable for signature verification.
