Monitor a Remote FTP file size

Postby Tech Support » Tue Jan 26, 2016 3:58 pm

User support request:
I want to create a task which monitors a file. This file is updated every 2 hours, but if there is an error in our process, the file will be smaller. I need ABLE FTP to email me, if this happens. Can it do this? If so, how do I set it up?

1) Use the FTP monitor or FTP-J monitor task. It has a file size monitoring condition. If criteria is met, then task exit code = -100.
2) Create an email server profile (Settings menu / email server profile.. ) Test to verify that you can send emails.
3) Create an email notificaton profile for this task (Settings menu / email notification profile)
criteria: send notification if exit code = -100
task title = enter your monitor task title.

User reply:
Will this monitor a file in a directory constantly, and if it changes size then it will trigger the email notification, or does the file have to downloaded via FTP for this task to run?

Schedule the Ftp Monitor task to run every 30 minutes etc.. It will trigger the email without downloading the file.
