How to change the default GnuPG home directory (keystore)

Postby Tech Support » Thu May 07, 2020 5:13 pm

User support request:

how do we change where the users gnupg folder is? Currently it's set in their windows user profile and we'd like to make it be in the data directory.

This can be changed using the environment variable GNUPGHOME.
Control Panel --> System --> Advanced --> 'Environment Variables' button --> System Variables list at bottom--> New Button.
Then enter (case sensitive):
Variable Name = GNUPGHOME
Variable Value = c:\program files\automize12\data\gnupghome

For AutoKrypt users:
Variable Value = c:\program files\autokrypt12\data\gnupghome

* Then create a new folder called 'gnupghome' (case sensitive) in the data folder. You will have to manually copy all the keys / settings files from the old homedir to this new location and start up automize or autokrypt.
* Log off and then log back in for the settings to take effect.
* If you are using windows service to start the engine, then you should restart the service.
